Samsung Galaxy Buds FE Explosion Leaves Turkish Woman Permanently Deaf
In a post on Samsung's official forum, a tragic incident involving a Turkish woman losing her hearing permanently was reported. The incident occurred while she was wearing the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE Wireless headphones, which exploded unexpectedly.
The headphones belonged to a Turkish user who lent them to his girlfriend, the victim of this accident. Following the incident, the user sought assistance from Samsung with the damaged headphones. However, Samsung's response was surprisingly inadequate, offering only to replace the headphones without taking any significant action.
Note: The damaged part in the provided image is the earbud, with the battery located on the larger side. It's unclear from the image whether the battery exploded or if the battery's soft package explosion caused the earbud part to act as a pressure release valve.
Samsung's dismissive attitude has raised eyebrows. According to the original post, a Samsung representative requested the headphones be brought to a service center for inspection. The staff were shocked upon seeing the damaged headphones and apologized to the user. Two days later, Samsung contacted the user, claiming the headphones were deformed rather than exploded, and offered a new pair out of goodwill, without admitting any liability for the user's injury.
This stance by Samsung, aiming to absolve itself from any responsibility for the user's injury, has been criticized. For months, the user has been trying to negotiate with Samsung to protect his legal rights, with many netizens advising to preserve all evidence and consider legal action rather than endure humiliating treatment from Samsung.
Given Samsung's history with the Galaxy Note 7 explosion debacle, both Samsung and its users should pay close attention to this case. If such incidents are unique to Samsung, it may warrant concern over potential repeats of the Galaxy Note 7 situation.
