Ubisoft Games Experience Black Screen or Crashes on Windows 11 24H2; Users Advised to Pause Updates
Since the beginning of October, Microsoft has been rolling out the Windows 11 24H2 update. However, to avoid widespread compatibility issues due to unforeseen problems, new versions are usually deployed in phases.
The latest recorded issue involves compatibility problems with several Ubisoft games. According to a statement from Ubisoft, after updating to Windows 11 24H2, some games may experience black screens or crashes.
Affected games include Assassin's Creed Origins, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Feedback from users indicates that these games fail to launch or freeze and stop responding after the system update. Some users also encounter black screens and crashes.
Ubisoft is currently working with Microsoft to find a solution. However, as a precaution, Microsoft has temporarily blocked systems with these Ubisoft games installed from upgrading to Windows 11 24H2.
Microsoft also warns users against attempting to update using ISO images, as this method bypasses compatibility checks. Other upgrade methods, such as using the Update Assistant, will notify users of compatibility errors and prevent the upgrade.
Additionally, Ubisoft has released a patch for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to address the black screen or crashing issues, though the patch may introduce some performance issues.
