Final Countdown: Microsoft to End Support for Windows 10 21H2 in June - What You Need to Know
The Windows 10 21H2 version, released in the fall of 2021, concluded support for consumer editions in June 2023, including Home, Pro, Pro Workstation, and non-volume licensed Education editions.
However, as per tradition, Microsoft offers an additional year of support for the enterprise branch version, but this extension is also nearing its end. According to the schedule, Microsoft plans to release the final security update for this version on June 11th.
After June 11, Microsoft will completely end security support for this version. Any subsequent discovery of security vulnerabilities will not be addressed, posing significant security risks for enterprises continuing to use the outdated version.
Affected versions include Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions. Microsoft advises enterprise users with devices that meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11 to consider upgrading to Windows 11.
Other related branches, such as Windows 10 LTSC 2021 and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2021, are not affected. These editions are part of the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC), with support extending until January 12, 2027.
Considering that support for consumer editions has already ended, if home consumers are still using Windows 10 21H2, they will be prioritized for the new version push by Microsoft, which is the Windows 10 22H2 version, currently still supported.
