NVIDIA Reportedly Discontinues the RTX 3060 Graphics Card: Final Stocks to be Distributed in Coming Months
According to leaks from Bo Ban Tang forum members, the immensely popular RTX 3060 graphics card is facing discontinuation three years after its launch. Initially released in February 2021, it quickly became the most popular graphics card on the Steam gaming platform.
Priced more affordably, the RTX 3060 offered many of the new features of the RTX 30 series, making it a great choice for gamers on a budget, whether in the 12GB or 8GB version.
Forum members report that NVIDIA has announced the discontinuation of the RTX 3060 and has notified its AIB partners to place their final orders. According to NVIDIA's standard operating policies, these final RTX 3060 orders will be dispatched to partners in batches over the next few months.
If this information is accurate, the RTX 3060 will officially be phased out in a few months, as it will take time for manufacturers to receive the final shipments. Stock levels are expected not to last long, leading to the gradual disappearance of the RTX 3060 from the retail market.
During its launch, the RTX 3060 was released amidst a cryptocurrency mining craze, significantly inflating prices for many graphics cards and severely impacting gamers and video content creators. However, as the mining frenzy subsided, the inflated prices gradually disappeared, with the RTX 3060 remaining a favorite among budget-conscious players.
With the introduction of the RTX 40 series, the market share of the previous generation cards naturally began to decrease. For instance, the RTX 4060, priced similarly to the RTX 3060, naturally becomes the preferable choice for gamers due to its superior performance and additional new features.
