Microsoft's New Outlook Client Faces 0x80049dd3 Error, Investigation Underway
Users of Microsoft's newly launched Outlook, which is based on the WebView2 Runtime, may currently experience issues logging in, encountering the 0x80049dd3 error code when attempting to connect or log in.
The issues reported include being unable to log into accounts on the first attempt, with the error code displayed despite repeated login attempts. Additionally, some users find themselves unable to load various folders such as drafts, junk mail, and others, or even open Outlook pages and tabs, receiving access denied messages.
It's important to note that this problem is not related to the latest cumulative updates for Windows 10 or Windows 11, so users need not try to delete updates to regain email access.
A significant number of similar complaints have already emerged in the Microsoft Feedback Hub, suggesting that the issue might stem from Microsoft's backend servers, as there are instances of successful logins and usage before the error reappears about 20 minutes later.
Given that the new version of Outlook is essentially a web-based application, Microsoft should theoretically be able to easily identify and fix any backend server issues, allowing users to regain access eventually.
Microsoft has already rolled out the new version of Outlook to many users, including corporate clients, whether they are using the UWP mail and calendar apps or the Win32 version of Outlook. However, at Landian.news, the Win32 version of Outlook is currently functioning without issue.
Therefore, if this problem significantly hinders work, users might consider reverting to the Win32 version of Outlook clients available through Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 perpetual licenses.
