Netflix to Remove Offline Download Feature from Netflix for Windows 10/11 Apps
Streaming giant Netflix has decided to remove the offline download feature from the Netflix for Windows 10/11 apps in upcoming updates. This change means users will no longer be able to pre-download movies and TV shows for offline viewing through these clients.
This is unwelcome news for users who frequently travel with their Windows 10/11 laptops, as a stable internet connection is not always available on the go.
Previously, it was possible to download favorite movies and TV series in advance, allowing for uninterrupted viewing on trains or outdoors without the need for an internet connection.
Netflix has confirmed on its support website that the offline download feature will indeed be removed, although the exact timing is still uncertain. Once the new version is released, it will be automatically updated through the Microsoft Store.
Some users have expressed frustration over Netflix's decision to remove the offline download feature, questioning the rationale behind using the app if offline viewing is not supported. "Why not just watch videos in the browser instead of downloading an app?" they argue.
As a result, many users might consider uninstalling the Netflix app, as browsing directly might offer a better experience without the offline download functionality.
Furthermore, Netflix has hinted at optimizing the Netflix for Windows 10/11 client apps in future updates. These improvements include support for live streaming, enhanced streaming quality, and better compatibility with Netflix's ad-supported subscription tier.
